Vincent Reid

Vincent Reid was born in 1970 and raised on a tobacco farm in Zimbabwe. "I have always been a close observer of the outdoors", he says. Reid, having studied Interior Design, worked for 18 years in the exhibition and events industry as a designer and business owner. In 2010 he left the industry to pursue his passion in art as a full time endeavour.

Graphite (pencil) is Reid's medium of choice. "It is an extremely direct medium and therefore allows me to express the deep contrast and texture of my subject. Through it, I aim to capture those moments which encapsulate the essence of the African outdoors and I am always on the lookout for them. I am inspired by nature and the light which is emitted from it. Each piece is a representation of my own personal experience and I'll always endeavour to 'experience' everything that I draw."

Reid sells his work both locally and internationally through his website, galleries and shows which he regularly attends.
In 2012 he had the honour of having one of his pieces entitled "Natures Jungle Gym" selected for inclusion in INDA7, a drawing annual published by the Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, USA.

His work can also be viewed at Imbizo Gallery.
